Dribble, dribble, dribble. No, it's not a leak.
I just hear all the raindrops falling off the roofline onto the hedge outside my office as I type. What a rainy day. We had our usual line up of events on Saturday morning and then Patrick's first swim lesson of the summer. The clouds were rolling in by the time we got back from karate & I had that "oh heck" feeling about getting rained out for swimming. Granted, swim lessons still go on "rain or shine" but it's the thunder/lightning that usually accompanies these dark foreboding clouds that halts that swim lesson.
Patrick was able to get in about 5 minutes of his 20 minute lesson before the thunder starting rolling & we saw the first lightning. Out we go. We sat out on the instructor's patio for about 10 minutes hoping to wait it out. Instead...it rained harder. The wind gusted. The thunder & lightning cranked up. Then, what apparently happens everytime they get a strong storm happened..their pool deck started flooding thru the screen door and we were all in an inch of water. Next move...we all move inside their house. Of course she wouldn't be that mean to actually "not" let us in but I know she sure wasn't expecting a house full either! There was another family besides mine and we waited the storm out for about 20 minutes inside before it let up enough for us to go home. We only live next door too - that's how bad it was!
So now the boys are snuggled up in robes (you'd think they'd been soaked to the bone)..but they take any excuse to curl up in robes. We cuddled on the sofa and read books and they are finishing up a late lunch. I see sunlight off in the west - heck, maybe we might have a dry afternoon. We sure do need the rain but the timing could have been better!
Addendum: no way, Jose'....no dry afternoon here!
