The Pirates of Penzance...

Boys will be boys.

Boys will sometimes be pirates.

And pirates will be pirates.

My pirates (aka "boys") had a pirate adventure in the backyard yesterday, taking advantage of the beautiful weather....and not having to be anywhere in particular.

My pirates (Captain Matt & Pirate Stinky Feet) searched for treasure, fought with some fearless trees, paused for a photo op & even engaged in a little brotherly sword fighting.

But my pirates had a happy ending. It ended with washing up and going out to eat Irish stew with the family on Grandpa's last night in town. Then snuggling down for a much needed rest in beds waaaay more comfy than anything real pirates sleep on.

Night-night, pirates.

p.s. the swords are foam, just in case anyone was wondering. it is VERY unlike me to allow weapons of any kind...so just to clarify, they are foam

Katie has been playing pirate a lot lately, too. This morning, she told me, "I'm a pirate. Aarrgh!" She's also been walking around saying, "Aye-aye, Cap'n," quite a bit.

By the way, she really needs to see her Patrick and Ms. Andrea soon. Lately, when we go out to the car to go anywhere, she says, "We're going to see Patrick and Ms. Andrea!" and I have to disappoint her by saying that we're going somewhere else. She's too funny!
